The metrics used to reward and recognize our scholarly work has traditionally included impact factor and citation counts of journal articles. The scholarly landscape is rapidly changing, however. With increasing open access options and evolving ways of examining an article’s reach via social media, there are many alternative metrics that can be used. What are these metrics? And how will they affect your PTR? Come out for a discussion with Heather Piwowar, cofounder of ImpactStory, Edith Hillan, Vice-Provost, Faculty and Academic Life and Gunther Eysenbach, founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Medical Internet Research (http://www.jmir.org) and cofounder of TrendMD (http://www.trendmd.com/).
