U. of T. Mississauga has two pilot technology-enhanced Active Learning Classrooms, DV1151 and DV1154. The differences between the two rooms are in bold below.
What is in the Active Learning Classrooms?
DV1151 (Capacity 72 students)
- 12 round tables that seat 6 students
- Chairs on casters with storage below the seat for student items
- Students can connect their laptops and other devices at their tables with the following connections
- VGA
- HDMI
- Air Media
- Power
- Students at each round table can connect to and display on a dedicated Epson 585Wi projector that is located by their table. Students can also use Epson digital pens to annotate projected images.
- Instructors can use a podium computer, document camera, and/or connect their laptops and other devices at the central podium using the following connections
- VGA
- HDMI
- 2 USB connectors
- Air Media
- Power
- Instructor podium is connected to Crestron controller and allows instructor to
- Display image to central pillar monitors
- Display image to all projectors
- Display selected image to selected projectors
- Control sound
- Control 3 overhead cameras
- Move the projected displays in peer review mode to the left, the right, or mirrored
- Instructors have access to a wireless pendant microphone and a handheld microphone
- 4-50" monitors are located on a central pillar
- 2 Dell PC laptops are available for instructor / student use
- 1 iPad is available for instructor use
- 3 overhead cameras can be used to display instructor and student materials
- All walls have walltalker whiteboard that can be used with whiteboard dry eraseable markers and erasers (the erasers do not work very well so wipes are provided)
- Markers, erasers, and wipes
- 3 Mac HDMI Thunderbolt adapters
- 15 mini whiteboards that can be used at the student tables and instructor podium
DV1154 (Capacity 60 students)
- 10 round tables that seat 6 students
- Chairs on casters with storage below the seat for student items
- Students can connect their laptops and other devices at their tables with the following connections

- Students at each round table can connect to and display on a dedicated 50" TV monitor that is located by their table.
- Instructors can use a podium computer, document camera, and/or connect their laptops and other devices at the central podium using the following connections
