This workshop will introduce students to the Bloomberg terminal. Students will learn how to access Bloomberg terminals remotely; create a Bloomberg account; navigate and search the terminal to find company information, including company financials, as well as analyst reports and business news. Students will also learn about how to get certified with Bloomberg Market Concepts.

Literature Synthesis Bootcamp- Part 3: Using COVIDENCE for Literature Screening

Once you have conducted your database searches and have an archive of records, you need to screen and appraise them. This session introduces you to COVIDENCE, a software solution available at UofT that simplifies this daunting process. After attending this session, you will be able to start working with COVIDENCE to expedite the screening and data extraction for your literature synthesis project.

You have to cite using the Journal of Forensic Sciences (JFS) Style for your upcoming paper. Do not panic! After this session, you will be comfortable applying style basics, from in-text citation placement to formatting the most common bibliography entries.

  • locate the JFS Style guide and our online guides to the style
  • practice in-text citation placement
  • format a bibliography based on common reference types, including journal title abbreviation look-up

Chicago Style Citations Basics - 2

You have to cite using the Chicago Style for your upcoming paper. Do not panic! After this session, you will be able to format basic in-text citations and bibliography entries.

Learning outcomes: 

  • differentiate between the Author-Date and Notes-Bibliography formats
  • compare and contrast the roles of the Notes to the role of the Bibliography
  • prepare the first and subsequent in-text citations using both formats
  • create bibliography entries
