Q: When can I apply?

Recruitment begins in January and ends in February. However, during the school year, we might recruit as well. The best way is to follow us on Instagram (utmlibraryambassadors) and/or sign up on our mailing list, we will notify you when we are accepting new volunteers. 
 

Q: Why should I volunteer?

Q: Are there certain skills I need to be a volunteer?

All volunteers receive comprehensive training. No qualifications or experience necessary.

Q: What will I be doing?

Exciting, rewarding, and fun projects! You could give presentations, learn to lead, be creative, be a library ambassador, and/or perhaps pick up a few practical and transferable skills!

Q: Will I have to complete an application form or have an interview?

Yes, but remember the application form and the interview is a two-way process. It has 3 benefits:

It enables us to find out more about you.
It ensure that you are suitable for the role.
It enables you to ensure that the volunteering opportunity meets your needs and interests.

Q: How much time do I need to commit?

We are looking for commitment for the entire academic year, approximately 2-3 hours per week (depending on position).

Q: Who can volunteer?

Any full-time, in good academic standing UTM undergraduate students are welcome to join.

Q: Do you provide training?

Yes, general program orientation and on-site training during your volunteer hours.

Q: Will volunteering help me get a job?

Definitely! You not only gain significant work related experience but also gain practical and transferable skills to add to your resume. Volunteering provides skills and experience that is valued by many employers.

Q: What is the process of being a Library volunteer?

1) Complete the online application form

2) If you get selected, come for an interview

3) Attend the mandatory meetings and trainings and you are ready to start!
