Would it be ok if I use Google Scholar to find scholarly articles and books? If you have this question in your mind, join this session. Understanding how and when to use Google Scholar will make you feel more comfortable with your choice!

Your professor requires you to cite using the Journal of Forensic Sciences (JFS) Style for the upcoming paper. Do not panic! After this session you will be comfortable locating the guide to the style online, and you will feel confident applying its basics, from in-text citation placement to formatting most common bibliography entries.  

Learning outcomes:  

• locate the JFS Style guide and our online guides to the style;  
• practice in-text citation placement;  
• format a bibliography based on most commonly used reference types;  

This workshop will introduce the basics of working with digital images:  finding sources, file naming, file types, storage, preservation and long-term sustainability issues, as well as, ethical and  copyright issues. Copyright issues will be addressed concerning academic studies, assignments, public vs. creative common sites, publishing and professional work.

Know the risks associated with sharing your data and be better prepared to protect yourself from the worst-case scenarios (e.g. academic account hijacking, even identity theft). This session will show ways in which you can maintain some control over what personal information about you is shared.

This workshop will introduce students to FactSet. Students will learn how to access FactSet and search the database to find company information, including company financials and filings, as well as to perform relative valuation using the Comps tool.
