FLC Resources

Software

Access to specialized software is available in-person at the FLC. A valid UTORid is required. When the FLC is closed, you can access our software remotely using Parallels RAS Secure Remote Desktop. All FLC software, with the exception of Bloomberg, can be accessed remotely on FLC workstations Parallels Secure Remote Desktop.
 
Some FLC software is available to download for free. Search the software category for availability. UTM’s I&ITS cloud-hosted platform, Parallels RAS Virtualized Applications hosts a variety of software, including some from the FLC.
Description

Anaconda Navigator

A desktop graphical user interface that launches and manages Anaconda packages, environments, and channels without the need for command-line commands.

Installed on all FLC workstations.
Also available as a free download for Windows and Mac users.

Dev C ++

An integrated development environment (IDE) which allows users to write, compile, and run a C or C++ program.

Installed on all FLC workstations.
Also available as a free download for Windows users.

IDLE

Python’s integrated development and learning environment, which can be used to create, modify, and execute Python scripts

Installed on all FLC workstations.

Also available as a free download for Windows and Mac users.

Jupyter Notebook

Open-source web application for creating and sharing documents containing live code, equations, visualizations, and narrative code. Can be used for working with data, including statistical modeling and data visualization.

Installed on all FLC workstations.

Also available for free download for Windows and Mac users.

Note: Python 3.3 or higher is required for installation.

MySQL

A relational database management system based on the SQL programming language.

Installed on all FLC workstations. 

Also available as a free download for Windows users.

NetBeans IDE

An integrated development environment for application development using Java and HTML5 platforms.

Installed on all FLC workstations.

Python IDE

A general-purpose programming language known for its easy-to-learn syntax. 

Installed on all FLC workstations.

Python versions 3x and 2x for Windows available as a free download.

R

A programming language and environment for statistical computing and graphics.

Installed on all FLC workstations and available remotely through Virtualized Apps via UTM I&ITS Parallels Client.

R Studio

A free, open-source integrated development environment for R language that includes tools for plotting, viewing history, debugging, and managing your workspace.

Spyder IDE

Free, open source integrated development environment written in Python for use with Python. Designed specifically for scientists, engineers, and data analysts.
